A Raisin in the Sun

A Raisin in the Sun is a play about a black family living in South Chicago. The play starts with Walter waiting for his son, Travis, to get out of the shower. Ruth who is married to Walter is making breakfast for the family. This family is living in a small apartment. In additon, Beneatha who is Walters sister lives in the house. She attends a near by college. Lastly, Mama who is Walter and Beneatha's mother is the head of the house and guides her family. Everybody works vigorously for little pay. Therefore, the family is always bickering about money. Walter plans to open a liqour store with a buddy, Willy Harris. Beneatha needs college money and Mama wants a nice house for Travis when he is older.
